Today I see that our former Secretary of State Condolezza Rice made the statement that we should take out the Iranian government any way we can. While I often didn't agree with her while in office, she just might be right.
The main problem to military action in Iran is their resources- not a push over as was Saddam's untrained army. Iran has spent millions training terrorists, armies, and moving in to places they should never be. They support some of the world's nastiest terror groups- and they are a terror group in and of themselves. Not to mention their leader is a nutcase, and a dangerous one at that.
Candidates have said that "we should remove the sanctions to get Iran to act differently." Which is a lot of hog pucky. People who are deranged are not swayed by magnanimous gestures or wheedling. They look for ways to exploit their foes and use every method to do it. Ms. Rice nailed it when she said we should never take the military option off the table.
Ahmadinejad is no fool- crazy, but not stupid. He will delay, manipulate, threaten, even tell lies in order to get his way. Anyone who thinks he's a normal guy that will respond to "nice" gestures is as smart as the two guys in "Dumb and Dumber." Time to get our tongues off the frozen light pole and get some guts.

While the World Sleeps
Evil plans are always made when people don't pay attention. According to Israeli intelligence this week, Iran can already make a bomb. While we frittered away our time in worthless diplomacy, Iran pushed their program forward. As if they were really concerned about world peace. Ha!
While the world believed North Korea's lies about stopping their nuclear enrichment, THEY also forged ahead on a new plant. The world in effect slept through the process. This week we have learned that they had a secret nuclear plant that will do the evil deeds we all dread. And today, they have attacked a South Korean island just for the sheer nastiness of it.
You cannot stop a rattlesnake in mid-strike and ask it to take the venom out of its fangs! You cannot explain logical, Judeo-Christian mindsets for the importance of human life to people who hate. It does not work.
For example on a smaller scale, if you want a drunk to stop driving, all the advertisements, legal penalties, and laws in the world will not stop them. They are addicted, and will drive drunk no matter what the ramifications. They have to be literally taken off the road, put through a de-tox, and their hearts/minds changed. Without that full treatment, they will continue to drive drunk. You can't reason with them. You can't scare them out of it. They don't think like the rest of us. The same applies to terrorists, communists, abusers, etc.
Telling Kim Jong Il that he's upsetting the world is ineffective, because that's his purpose. Telling Al-Qaeda that they are evil is a waste of time, since they believe the rest of us are evil. Trying to squeeze Ahmadinejad by economic sanctions on the country of Iran is a joke because he doesn't care about his people. And attempting to talk him out of his "12th Imam" mindset is an exercise in futility.
The only thing evil respects is the ability to overpower it. The only way to stop evil is to pay attention and act according to wisdom, understanding that talk- talk- talk does nothing but distract from the inevitable. Neville Chamberlain was the perfect example of that just prior to WWII. He talked his way into an agreement with Germany, even signed by Hitler. It was violated almost as soon as the ink dried.
People with evil mindsets must be dealt with in strength, not weakness. We may be about to see what complacency and worthless talk have caused.

Powder Kegs
The term "powder keg" has been around for centuries. It stems from a wooden keg filled with gunpowder that was kept for reloading muskets. They were highly volatile, and if a spark or flame got anywhere near them, they would blow up and start huge fires, as well as level the buildings and people around them.
We are there. The entire world is a powder keg waiting to happen today, far worse than it was yesterday. The news media is, of course, blaming Israel for being "aggressive.". They are wrong. This flotilla/blockade situation was set up deliberately by pro-palestinians for several weeks perhaps even months. They were fully aware that Israel could not let them pass through the Gaza blockade. They were fully aware that the intelligence showed items not related to humanitarian needs in the ships. And they have played it up to make Netanyahu the bad guy, when, frankly,it was the opposition. They did it on purpose.Turkey has threatened today to "drown Israel in their own blood." And are we going to help? Oh, no, we're making it worse.
Our Prez called up Bibi today and "demanded" he do something. Why should he? Our Prez won't do anything about the slaughter at our own borders, so why should Bibi listen to the threats from the WH? So relationship with our staunchest friend, Israel, has been ready to blow up for over a year now.Another keg about to start an explosion that can't be stopped.
Iran is bragging about their enriched uranium, enough for two nukes. Oh, goody. Iran has been pumping up their nuclear capabilities-- yes, read that bombs-- while the world twiddles its thumbs babbling about sanctions. Iran did THAT on purpose too, by the way. Yep, smoldering powder keg there too.
Add to that volcanic eruptions, catastrophic oil spills, the two Koreas at each other's throats, European economies on the verge of disaster, and you have a lovely concoction of powder keg. Will it blow? As the risk of sounding doom and gloom, I think it will have to eventually. Like the fault lines that cause major earthquakes, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. I don't think our leadership is wise enough to handle it properly, and will come down on the wrong side.
Who will light the fuse? I personally think it's already lit. It just depends on how long the fuse is...
