Military might...or not

First off, you should know that I'm a fan of both military and cops. I'm usually on their side because I've seen first hand what it would be like without them. They are my heroes- and I fully support them. But currently our society and government are h.e.double toothpicks bent on pulling their ability to protect us.

Benjamin Franklin once said that "The cat with gloves catches no mice." If you think about it, that is a hugely profound statement in today's world. We can't protect America if our military or our police are so worried about political correctness that they basically have handcuffs on their own wrists.

I read a couple of days ago on the "Navy Times" website, that a new medal has been proposed. It's given to troops who "show restraint" and don't kill the enemy. Now, before you throw up, let's balance all this and give someone the benefit of the doubt- they are trying to mitigate the many times when someone has gone crazy on adrenalin and killed a whole room full of civilians. So technically I understand it.
Do I agree with it? Absolutely not!

It sends the wrong message. It sends confusion to the men and women who put their lives in jeopardy every day in the war zones. "Uh, should I shoot, or not shoot and maybe get a medal." "Should I kill that guy with the AK47 or should I see if I can talk him out of pulling the trigger." NO TIME,people, there is never that much time!

To survive on the streets, or survive in a war, they must make split second decisions. You don't have time to pick your nose, scratch your hiney, or go to the john before you make a decision. You have one second, maybe less, to decide whether that guy is going to blow you up. And generally speaking, people who hate you are going to choose to pull the trigger.

We have always had the best military in the world. Even when we were a fledgling nation, when our military were just a bunch of rag-tag neighbors with some muskets, they were the best. They fought with passion for their families and in spite of the odds against them won freedom for America. The military has continued that tradition in spite of the society that is constantly trying to beat them down. But this threat is insidious. Making them "nicer", making them more "sensitive" will not protect our country. It will weaken them from the inside out.

The Lord didn't bless the cowards who were scared of the people of Canaan. He only blessed the two men, Joshua and Caleb, who had the faith to fight. He didn't stand with the entire Israeli army who were afraid of Goliath- He stood with the skinny kid with the slingshot who had faith and courage to face the enemy. And the people of faith won. We must not allow faith to fall in America. We must not produce weak, double-minded troops. Our very lives depend on it!
